Aspen Youth Center

Services: Free year round programs that foster personal growth, positive relationships and academic success. Through mentorship, recreational activities and life skills development, youth realize their full potential through partnerships in education with local non-profit organizations such as Aspen Learning Lift, Aspen Science Center, Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers, Aspen Words, WindWalkers and Blazing Saddles.

Cost: Free

Eligibility: Grades 4-12 after school program.

SOS Outreach (SOS)

Services: Extended learn to ski or snowboard program combined with mentorship and training in character building and leadership skills. Career development skills and placement in 5 week paid work opportunity in the outdoor industry also available. Mentor volunteer opportunities as well as paid internship. Learn to ski or snowboard weekend also available to parents of participants. “Since 1993, we’ve been using mentorship and a proven, multi-year curriculum to foster a sense of belonging in kids and teenagers.”

Cost: “We are committed to eliminating any financial barriers to youth accessing our programs by offering free or low cost programs. Gear, lift tickets and instruction provided. No matter what social, societal, or economic barriers exist—SOS Outreach believes every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.”

Eligibility: Regional program is offered in Eagle County. Participants aged 4th -12th grades. Mentors and parent learn to ski or snowboard weekend for adults.

Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra

Services: The Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra inspires, educates & empowers our youth through orchestral music training and performance. There are a variety of programs in Silt, New Castle, Carbondale to Aspen. “The Roaring Fork Youth Orchestra provides student musicians in the Roaring Fork Valley region the opportunity to play in an orchestra from kindergarten through high school and a path towards musical excellence.”

Cost: Yearly tuition averages $550. One-half of all students are on scholarship assistance and tuition can be paid in installments. “Scholarships and an instrument lending library make the RFYO accessible for all families. ”

Eligibility: K-12 age young persons.

The Cycle Effect

Services: The Cycle Effect works to provide young women equal opportunity and access to the sport of mountain biking. We aim to serve 70% of participants who identify as Latina and/or Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and work to remove financial barriers while supporting the social-emotional wellbeing of our participants. Focus is on physical wellness, community impact and mentorship, and building brighter futures. Bilingual.

Cost: $65 per 6 week session w/ 2 sesssions per week, scholarships available. Bikes, transportation and gear provided.

Eligibility: Girls 10-18 and seperate women’s program 18+. Regional organizations throughout the state; Eagle and Edwards in Eagle County.

Aspen Science Center

Services: Focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education for youth.  Hands-on engaging and bilingual programs spark curiousity and cultivate critical thinking. Free programs once a month for ages 5-13 at libraries throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. Paid internships for those in 9th-college age interested in science education.

Cost: Free programs and scholarship programs.

Eligibility: Youth and families in the Roaring Fork Valley.

The Art Base

Services: Free public art exhibitions; low-cost and scholarship-supported art classes and workshops for all ages; youth afterschool and summer art programs; preschool art classes; community Crafternoons; teen mentorship programs in visual arts (Laura Thorne Sculpture Program and Claudette Carter Art Mentorship); and free community art events.

Cost: Gallery exhibitions and most community events are free. Art classes, workshops, and camps have a registration fee, but full and partial scholarships are available for all programs.

Eligibility: Open to everyone. No membership or residency requirements. Scholarships are available to youth and adults who demonstrate financial need. See website for more information. Serves Pitkin, Eagle & Garfield counties.

Exploremos

Services: Spanish Language Outdoor recreational and educational programs, events and activities for families, children and individuals based in Eagle County. Exploremos is a community group that has bilingual staff dedicated to support each program and works in partnership with more than 30 local organizations.

Cost: Free or at a very reduced rate.

Eligibility: Exploremos programs are for everyone, but some have an age cap depending on the nature of the activity. See website for more information. Serves Eagle County.

TACAW (The Arts Center at Willits)

Services: Performing arts programs, internships for high school and college-age youth interested in the arts (summer), summer camps (summer). TACAW also offers a free youth art pass, for students in 7th through 12th grade enrolled in schools in the Roaring Fork Valley can sign up for two free tickets to all-ages performances. Summit54

Services: Summer Advantage Academic & Life Enrichment Program for Elementary Students + After-School Tutoring Program for Elementary Students. Spanish services.

Cost: Free

Eligibility: Summer Advantage is available for all elementary-aged children who reside within the Roaring Fork School District boundaries (regardless which elementary school the child attend during the school year). The Roaring Fork School District offers our tutoring program to children who most need support. Serves Garfield County.

Services: Adult clay classes (complete beginner to advanced), workshops, kids classes, private lessons.
