Quality of Life Cancer Fund

Services: Emergency financial assistance to mitigate the financial burden that often accompanies a cancer diagnosis. The Quality of Life Fund’s mission is to improve the lives of people living with cancer, including patients, survivors, families and caregivers living in Aspen to Parachute and Battlement Mesa communities. The Quality of Life Fund partners with Aspen Valley Hospital, Valley View Hospital and Grand River Health. Financial assistance is provided for current bills such as rent, mortgage, utilities (phone, electric, gas, water) car payments, insurance (home, car, health), travel expenses associated with treatment, caregiver respite, home healthcare items and services, and complementary and alternative care. In general, the fund will not be used for payment of medical procedures or medications. Dental and alternative therapies will be considered.

Cost: No cost. An application does need to be completed and there are qualifying requirements. See application on website.

Eligibility: Cancer diagnosis. Applicants must have lived in Aspen to Parachute/Battlement Mesa communities for at least 1 year. Household monthly expenses should exceed household monthly income. Household should have less than $15,000 in cash assets. If the application is approved, QOL will need current bills for payment.

Vail Valley Charitable Fund (VVCF)

Services: Direct Aid: Helps local individuals and families facing medical crises or long-term illness with grants to cover medical bills, rent, utilities, or other essential needs. Eagle County Smiles Program: Provides free or reduced-cost dental care for uninsured children and youth in our area of service. Eagle County Grins Program: Offers low-cost dental services for uninsured adults. Vail Breast Cancer Group (VBCG): Supports women in Eagle County who are undergoing breast cancer diagnosis or treatment through financial aid, mammogram funding, and community support. Spanish Outreach: Bilingual (English/Spanish) assistance to help applicants navigate forms and connect with our programs. Community Referrals: Connects clients with additional resources such as mental health, housing, transportation, or food assistance programs. Volunteering and Events: Opportunities for community members to get involved in fundraising events like the LG Tri or Bowling for Boobs and to give back.

Cost: All applications and the application assistance for our programs are free of charge.

Eligibility: Must live or work in our area of service (East Vail to Dotsero, including Minturn & Red Cliff) for more than one year. Must be facing a medical hardship or financial difficulty related to a health issue. Applicants provide documentation such as physician statements, medical bills, rent agreement / mortgage statements, and proof of income. For EC Smiles and Free Screening Mammogram programs, specific applications are required (available on the website).

Colorado Cancer Coalition

Services: Cancer support groups and education. (Virtual and In-person)
