Eagle County Department of Human Services – Early Head Start

Services: Free early learning, health, nutrition and family support services to eligible pregnant women and families with children under age three.  The Eagle County Early Head Start program offers different service options within Eagle County, all of which include Home Visits. Families receive parenting information, enrichment activities, developmental screenings, parent support and linkages to community resources. Some of our program options also include childcare services at our contracted facilities. Services available vary depending on location.

Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) of the Rockies

Services: One-on-one professional financial counseling to help individuals reduce debt, improve credit, build savings, and strengthen long-term financial habits. Bilingual services (English/Spanish) are available. Counselors can support clients to: Find the Right Bank: Choose the best bank account and build safe banking habits. Take Control of Debt: Create a realistic plan to reduce or eliminate debt. Start Saving: Build emergency and goal-based savings. Build Better Credit: Understand and improve your credit score and history. Manage Your Money: Develop a personalized budget and better financial organization. Achieve Life Goals: Plan and prepare for major milestones like buying a home, going to college, or starting a business.

Cost: All services are 100% free of charge. No fees, insurance, or proof of income required.

Eligibility: Open to any adult (18+) who lives or works in the Pitkin, Garfield, or Eagle counties. Appointments are required. No walk-ins accepted. Make an appointment online, Email for referrals and inquiries: coaching@savingscollaborative.org

Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR)

Services: Employment services for individuals with disabilities.

Cost: Free

Eligibility: Call (970) 945-1042 to schedule an appointment/intake or apply online. Must have a disability to be eligible for services.

Eagle Valley Library District

Services: Educational programs, Educational resources, Library of Things, Spark Studio, Community rooms.

Cost: Free

Eligibility: Training required for Spark Studio use. Community rooms and spaces are able to be reserved by non-profits and are otherwise available on a first-come, first-served basis to the public. No requirements to attend programs, use computers, browse resources, or spend time in the library. Photo ID needed to obtain a library card to check out materials.

Elevar

Services: Elevar is a leadership development program that provides community development through grantmaking and program-related investments to emerging entrepreneurs from the Latinx and people of color communities.

Cost: Free

Eligibility: We are looking for early-stage entrepreneurs from the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) community. “Early stage” means that you are in your initial stages of operation, growth, and product or service development. You may still be refining your concept, conducting market research, and/or building your minimum viable product (MVP). Cohort applications open annually around November/December.

English In Action

Services: English Language Development. Individual Tutoring: Adults who want to improve their English skills are assigned to volunteer tutors. Tutoring pairs meet one hour a week.  Small Group Tutoring: Offers students the opportunity to learn practical English from a volunteer tutor within the space of a small group class of learners with relatively similar English levels. Open Hours:  Open Hours is an informal, conversation-based walk-in class, currently offered at the Carbondale Library on Mondays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm taught by volunteer tutors. This drop-in class is open to the public and a great opportunity to start learning English right away.

Cost: Minimal cost $0-$25 depending on program, call for further information.

Eligibility: Any immigrant who wishes to learn English. Walk-ins welcome or call to schedule an appointment.

Carbondale Clay Center

Services: Adult clay classes (complete beginner to advanced), workshops, kids classes, private lessons.

Challenge Aspen

Services: On-snow and off-snow volunteers to work with individuals and groups with people with disabilities! Our largest need for volunteers is for on-snow volunteers to work on adaptive ski/snowboard lessons. Lessons take place from November 28th to April 20thand typically start at 9AM and end at 3PM.

Cost: Free

Eligibility: Volunteers must be at minimum 16 years old to be a junior volunteer and 18 years old to be a volunteer. On-snow volunteers must be at minimum a level 7 skier or rider. All volunteers must complete a registration form, background check, MoveUnited waiver, concussion training, online basis training and sign a volunteer contract. On-snow volunteers are required to complete at minimum 2 full day on snow trainings.
