Mentor Programs

SOS Outreach (SOS)

Services: Extended learn to ski or snowboard program combined with mentorship and training in character building and leadership skills. Career development skills and placement in 5 week paid work opportunity in the outdoor industry also available. Mentor volunteer opportunities as well as paid internship. Learn to ski or snowboard weekend also available to parents of participants. “Since 1993, we’ve been using mentorship and a proven, multi-year curriculum to foster a sense of belonging in kids and teenagers.”

Cost: “We are committed to eliminating any financial barriers to youth accessing our programs by offering free or low cost programs. Gear, lift tickets and instruction provided. No matter what social, societal, or economic barriers exist—SOS Outreach believes every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.”

Eligibility: Regional program is offered in Eagle County. Participants aged 4th -12th grades. Mentors and parent learn to ski or snowboard weekend for adults.

Mountain Youth – Tu Guia

Services: A youth-led and adult-supported program. It is for local high school and college students to tutor elementary students from all K-5th schools in Eagle County who may need academic assistance. Tutors create the academic lessons based on the students’ needs with a component of social-emotional curriculum. The goal is to individually increase these students’ academic levels. In addition, tutors are also working to assist the students’ parents in learning how to do this work with their kids on their own in the future. It is a generational program, which makes it unique from other tutoring programs. See website for volunteer and registration information. Spanish services.

Eligibility: Elementary and Middle school students in Eagle County.

The Buddy Program

Services: One on one Community and School-based mentoring, Group Experiential mentoring for teens. Spanish services.

Cost: Free

Eligibility: Ages 6-18. Enrollment process is required. Please call or email to receive more information. Serves Pitkin, Eagle & Garfield counties.

Stepping Stones of the Roaring Fork Valley

Services: Drop-in youth programming and after school activities. Spanish services

Cost: Free

Eligibility: Ages 10-24. No appointment or application needed. Participants must fill out a registration form (under 18 must have parent/guardian fill out). Serves Garfield County.
